INTRO
Maybe you’ve heard comments like these…
“You can’t.”“It’s Impossible.”“I’m sorry, but we can’t help you.”
If so, how did that make you feel?
When it happened to me, I felt frustrated and annoyed.
And I wondered, When will I ever get a break?
As I faced these obstacles, I found myself reciting, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Not so long ago, I experienced hard times. Lucky for me, there were programs to assist veterans in going back to school. I was ready for a fresh start, a new lease on life, and these programs offered to cover my tuition.
I was so excited! My break had finally come.
Hold your horses… Not so fast.
Before I could celebrate, I was stopped in my tracks. I received a big fat denial.
Why? Well, the offer came with stipulations I couldn’t meet.
The door closed in front of my face. My plans to attend EHI washed down the drain.
Maybe you’re shaking your head and wondering, How could that happen?
Let me tell you what happened…
To receive funding, I had to enroll in a “traditional” nutrition program.
That was not an option for me. My goal was to embark upon a journey that was new and different. It was time to break free from a system I’d felt stuck in my entire life.

THAT DENIAL WAS THE CATALYST THAT GOT ME WHERE I AM TODAY
So, back to the drawing board, I went. And it turned out, I had the answer all along.
However… It meant doing something I didn’t want to do.
I’ll come back to this in a moment…
Prior to experiencing this hardship, I’d walked away from a demanding job.
Why?
Because I wished for better.
I needed better.
I was tired of being sick and tired. And I needed answers.
Of course, denial was not what I’d asked for. But the surprising part?
Denial was what I needed. It fueled my faith and determination, and I didn’t give up.
Mind you, I was in a tight spot, having no support system to speak of. No family to lean on. No friends to turn to, either. I had no money to pay for school.
Yet, I still had to choose… Follow my heart’s desire or accept “free” tuition to a school I didn’t want to attend?
I’d been drawn to EHI for a reason. It was the place I wanted to study. I knew EHI would open the doors to something far greater than any “traditional” program could.
I didn’t understand; I just believed.
As a last resort, I returned to the very place that caused so much stress in my life…
I returned to work as a nurse.

IT MEANT MAKING A SACRIFICE, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT
It meant sacrificing my health, once again. But this time, the sacrifice was worth it. It meant I could attend EHI and become a Certified Holistic Nutritionist.
I needed that. I needed to learn how the body heals itself, so I’d never have to take a pHarmaceutical again.
EHI was amazing! And because of its outstanding education, I have a newfound love for taking care of patients in the clinic.

Every chance I get, I share the knowledge, knowing it can improve those patients lives. I’ve been able to merge nursing and Holistic Nutrition into a unique experience for all.
Life isn’t easy. Maybe, it never will be. Sometimes, we are moved to do things we don’t like, so we can get to where we’re meant to be.
I cannot tell you how reluctant I was to return to work as a nurse, knowing that environment caused more harm than good. Yet, it was my only option. And you know what? I’m glad I made that choice.
Because it worked out.
Sure, it wasn’t easy working long hours while learning how to truly heal. It seemed counterintuitive and felt exhausting at times.
But, that job, as painful as it was, got me to where I belong.
THIS WAS MY LESSON
Denial, like any challenge, can slow you down. However, it also can redirect you toward something greater.
Give up or stay the course?
I stayed the course and found my way! Not the most attractive way, but it got me to the finish line.
The “Being Solution-Oriented” course at EHI brought me back to my true path. It taught me that success in life is determined by how well we handle adversity.
Wow, say it ain’t so…
I knew I made the right choice. And I am stronger, healthier, and an EXCEPTIONAL Healer because of it. There’s no turning back!
That’s right, I turned a “No” into a “Not Yet!”
I was determined to study at EHI. Denial helped me find a way. EHI offered me a new way of life that I’ve found fulfilling and worth sharing with the world. And that’s what makes our school one of a kind.
