Healing for the A.G.E.S. – October 9th & 10th – Raising Children Naturally In An Artificial World
Aloha Healer,
To thine own self be true… let me tell you a story.
My parents thought I was going to be a girl. It’s true.
As the story goes, I sat high in my mother’s belly, so they thought I was going to be a girl… I say I just liked being high, lol.
You have to remember that this was “back in the day,” just before they unnecessarily imaged every baby in the womb and everyone started hosting “reveal” parties.
So, my parents had picked out a bunch of names for girls… then, out I come, and from what I was told, the first thing that was said was…
“That ain’t no girl.”
Obviously… but what were they going to name me?
Everyone looked at each other, and then my dad said, just name him after me. To which no one opposed, but thankfully, my sisters didn’t like.
So, one day at dinner, shortly after bringing me home, everyone discussed what I would be called.
“Little Henry”?
My sisters objected prodigiously from what I’m told, and I couldn’t Love them more for doing so.
It was ultimately decided that I would be called “H.L.” because in true southern fashion, my middle name was Lee… Henry Lee… Henry Lee Ealy III.
So “H.L.” I became… the ‘that ain’t no girl’ with no vowels in his name.
Every name means something, whether you know what the name means or not.
Every name, an incantation… magic spoken millions of times.
But there’s no real magic in initials… they don’t really mean anything.
And so it was for me for three decades until 2001 when I was given the name “Henele” on the island of Kauai by a Kahuna Lapa’au… and all of a sudden, I had an abundance of the same vowel in my name. And while it looks like it would be pronounced hen-AH-lay this name is more correctly pronouncedhon-AH-lay…
Perfectly not confusing.
“EHI has been the missing link in my Holistic Nutrition studies! I’m thankful for the experience Dr. H & his team have created for all of us.”
I fell in Love with this name because, while I’m very fond of “H.L.” …it was the first time in my life that I felt I actually had my own name, given just to me, rather than my name being an afterthought of the circumstances of my birth.
“Henele” fit me, even if it wasn’t my birth name or my family nickname.
And I wore the name “Henele” proudly for a couple decades. “Henele” fit me better than my clothes.
Hawaiian. Bestowed by an ancient Healer. Three syllables. I Loved my given name!
Then, 2020, and I was advised to use my birth name — a name not even my family called me — so I could be accepted publicly more easily. Swing and a miss on that one, lol.
I was very sad at the thought of no longer being Dr. Henele because that was the name by which all of my students had come to know me… and the name that helped me come to know myself.
Still… it was the logical thing to do to protect our amazing school in a tumultuous time.
Only one problem… Dr. Henry Lee Ealy III isn’t my name.
Henry is my dad’s name… and he wears it very well.
But, I’m no Henry… for I had never been one before.
All these years on Earth, and I no longer had a name that was mine, once again.
For years, I’ve struggled privately with being called Dr. Henry Ealy at conferences and on interviews, even though that name has received so much Love.
For me, it never felt right… it’s just not me.

So, to thine own self be true.
At Healing for the A.G.E.S. last year, Dr. Jana taught about muscle testing… and I could feel the truth of my name instantly. Henry isn’t my name. Even my body knows this to be true!
Then, this past week, the Islands — where Breath can be found In The Water — called me home again. Some pono was sent to me… and I felt the gentle reminder of my given name once again.
In meditation, I contemplated, ‘How can I be the teacher that my students need me to be, when I’m not even giving myself permission to be known by the name I Love… my true name?’
There’s no pono in that.
"Then, this past week, the Islands — where Breath can be found In The Water — called me home again."
And just like that, the choice was made… the choice to be who and what I really am.
I am Dr. Henele… Healer… Author… Teacher…Founder of the Energetic Health Institute…& Creator of the Life-Healing Arts & Sciences!
So, from this day forward, I ask in joy and humility to be called by my name… Dr. Henele.
For how can I practice the 1st Principle of Healing… to Treat People Well… if I’m not treating myself well… as well?
