Understanding Food Allergy Screenings

Many people experience symptoms that may be connected to food sensitivities without realizing it. Because some reactions occur hours or even days after eating, it can be difficult to identify which foods may be contributing to discomfort.

Food allergy screenings help to identify foods that may trigger immune responses in the body. Unlike immediate food allergies, delayed food sensitivities may produce symptoms hours or even days after consuming certain foods, making them difficult to identify without testing.

A Delayed Food Allergy Panel can provide insight into how your body may be responding to specific foods.

Why Food Sensitivities Matter

When the body repeatedly reacts to certain foods, it can create ongoing stress for the immune system.

For some individuals, food sensitivities may contribute to symptoms such as digestive discomfort, fatigue, headaches, skin irritation, or inflammation.

Identifying possible triggers may help individuals better understand their bodies and make adjustments that support overall wellness.

FAQs

Yes. The screening requires a standard blood sample. Blood draws are completed through a licensed laboratory or local phlebotomy service.

The process is similar to routine laboratory blood tests and is typically quick and straightforward.

Results are typically available after the laboratory completes the analysis and are shared along with guidance for next steps.

Instructions for the testing process and blood draw will be provided after your request is received.

Except in instances where a known food that causes anaphylactic reactions or an extended discontinuation from a food, like Gluten, students should consume the food or herb they suspect might be a problem for them once per day for 3 consecutive days and then wait for 7 days before having their blood drawn to allow their immune system to mount a response against it.

If you don’t feel good when eating any food, then you’ve likely answered your own question as to whether or not the food is right for your diet.

If you don’t feel much different, then the health screening results will likely catch if your body is having an immune response to the food your interested in.
