AT A GLANCE

  • Meditation isn’t as complicated as you might think.
  • It can be as simple as breathing.
  • That’s it; breathe and let your inner knowing take over.

MEDITATION IS EASY... HONESTLY

Take a deep breath in through your nose.

Feel the air enter and your nostrils flare.

Let the breath flow into your belly in one motion.

Feel your chest and torso expand with the fresh air and energy you’ve drawn in.

Now, exhale out of your mouth and release all of your thoughts with it.
Many ask what meditation is. This is all it is. Breathing.

It is a letting go of expectations with the world around you.

But more important, it is a letting go of expectations that you hold over yourself.

Before attending EHI, I thought I knew what meditation was. I’d sit with my legs crossed, in total silence, and try my best to clear my mind of all thoughts…

As you might guess, I’d be fast asleep within 15 minutes.

Take a slow deep breath through your nose.

Now, hold it for 4 seconds.

Exhale slowly through your mouth.
There are many ways you can meditate.

Some people like to go into meditation with questions they want answered.

Some go into meditations just wanting peace.

Whatever your reason, meditation is a great way to calm your inner world enough to hear your inner thoughts—thoughts that hold your truest desires for happiness and understanding.

It allows you to truly listen and feel.

Like anything worthy of pursuit, meditation takes time and practice. But the first step is, and will always be, to breathe.

Once you find your rhythm, everything else will flow, effortlessly.

Exhale through your mouth.

What do you feel?
It is easy to set our feelings and emotions aside while we engage in busy lives. It is even easier to put the feelings and emotions of others before our own.

"I thought I knew what meditation was. I’d sit with my legs crossed, in total silence, and try my best to clear my mind of all thoughts…"

When I started attending EHI, I was anxious.

I had many expectations and wanted to be perfect in every way. EHI helped me realize that everything is exactly as it should be. As long as I put my best foot forward, what have I to worry about?

I learned that life is like breathing…
All that breathing asks of you is to be. It is in that state of being that you find the enjoyment of simply doing breathwork.

You can meditate for as little as 5 to 20 minutes. And you will still find yourself coming out of it feeling refreshed and ready to embrace the day with ease.

Meditation can give you everything you need — if you breathe and let your expectations go.

Take a breath in through your nose.

What do you smell?
Meditation can be done anywhere.

All you need is a comfortable place to sit or lie. One without distractions.

It is more than ok to set the vibe. Play some soft music. Add some essential oils. A scent that brings peace and tranquility to you. Lavender is my go-to.

I also keep a notebook handy. By the end of meditation, my thoughts are clear and new ideas roll across the pages. You may find the same works for you.

Take another slow deep breath through your nose.

Hold for 4 seconds.

Now, exhale slowly through your mouth.

There is no right or wrong way to breathe.

The cool thing is, if you forget to breath, your body will do it for you. If you find yourself struggling to keep your rhythm, pause. Take a natural breath, rest, reset, and start again.

The purpose of meditation is to calm the mind, free your emotions, and find balance between the two.
